The Duke of Sussex began his second day in the UK today, leaving his bombshell court case and family drama behind, just hours after police officers were seen attending one of his events in London on Tuesday. Prince Harry began his five-day visit to his home country on Tuesday, after a chaotic few days of various statements from his team and Buckingham Palace over his accommodation and travel plans.

The Duke was reportedly denied taxpayer-funded police protection after a review of his threat level in the UK had not yet been released, which resulted in his wife, Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, not joining him in London, due to security fears. Despite that, on Tuesday, two unarmed police officers from the Metropolitan Police were seen alongside Harry’s security team at Chatham House just before the duke left an Invictus Games event. The Daily Express understands that the officers, from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team, were called there due to concerns that the media and crowds that had gathered were obstructing the road and public footpath. It is also understood that after providing brief assistance to the duke’s security team, they carried on with their duties.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, he managed to drop into his scheduled engagement via a side door to avoid the waiting photographers.

Should Prince Harry apologise to the Royal Family?

Prince Harry has arrived in the UK but is staying in an undisclosed private location after Buckingham Palace confirmed he will not be staying at the palace. The Duke of Sussex’s relationship with the Royal Family remains strained following a breakdown in trust and an ongoing legal battle over security arrangements.

The conflict stems from personal grievances, expressed by Harry and Meghan Markle in their infamous Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021 as well as their Netflix docuseries released the following year, and commercial ventures that have exposed private family dynamics. Some royal commentators and insiders argue that Harry should now apologise to the family to repair the fractured trust. They believe he should take accountability for his role in the ongoing rift.

So what do you think? Vote in our poll.

Queen narrowly misses Harry

The Queen was seen driving past the hospital about half an hour before Harry arrived, as she headed to the Wimbledon tennis championships with her sister, Annabel Elliot.

They were joined in the Royal Box by newlyweds Peter and Harriet Phillips and appeared to have a great day watching the games as they neared the final stages.

Prince Harry attends event unnoticed

Harry appears to be keen to avoid the public eye today, as he snuck into his scheduled meetings today via a side door.

The Duke arrived at the Royal Hospital Chelsea at about 12:30pm, where he had a series of private meetings related to the Invictus Games Foundation at the medical facility, which is a nursing facility for veterans of the British Army.

He managed to avoid the waiting press by entering the hospital grounds via a side road.

Meghan Markle missing

Meghan Markle had been due to join her husband at his engagement today, but she pulled out after the couple decided it was too unsafe for her to travel to London.

It would have been her first royal visit in the capital in over six years, since Megxit.

Prince Harry and Prince William just 12 miles apart – as royal stalemate continues

Prince Harry and Prince William were just miles apart on separate engagements in London on Tuesday.

The estranged brothers have not met in person since August 2024, and the last time they are believed to have spoken was in 2022.

On Tuesday, William was at The London Welsh School in Hanwell, West London, just 12 miles away.

The clue everyone missed that hints Meghan Markle will still come to the UK this week

Meghan Markle will not be joining Prince Harry in London this week, that’s what we were told over the weekend.

The family had decided that it wasn’t safe for the Duchess and their two young children to visit the English capital with the Duke, after they discovered there would be no armed security (despite this being the case since they quit as working royals six years ago).

But a key part of the statement suggests that Meghan will, in fact, be joining her husband this week.

Prince Harry showcased his sense of humour just minutes after the bombshell verdict about his court case was published.

Prince Harry’s statement in full after devastating High Court defeat

The Duke of Sussex joined forces with Baroness Doreen Lawrence, the mother of Stephen Lawrence, a black British teenager who was murdered in a racist attack in South East London in 1993, to issue his statement following Tuesday’s verdict.

It read: “We came to court seeking justice and accountability. But we have received neither.

“This judgment represents a complete reversal of the position which previous judges have taken in relation to the hacking claims successfully brought against both News Group Newspapers and Mirror Group Newspapers, who were represented by, at the time, the judge who made this decision.

“Generic findings about various private investigators that were held by the courts in these parallel claims to have carried out unlawful activity at the very same time in relation to similar stories and well-known individuals have been wholly ignored.

“The fact that this court has chosen to dismiss them represents an inconsistency which is hard to understand or reconcile with common sense, or the evidence heard in the courtroom itself.

“It is a complete and obvious whitewash, but sadly not altogether unexpected. However, the lengths to which the court has gone to exonerate the Mail is as shocking as it is totally unwarranted.

“When the court says there is not sufficient evidence of wrongdoing, despite the documents showing otherwise, then one does wonder how justice was ever going to be achieved.

“One need not look past when a private investigator the Mail used actually admitted on tape to having unlawfully blagged Baroness Lawrence, or when a journalist recorded the name of the private investigators she used to find out about highly sensitive medical information, that even the Mail was too worried to publish, or when another private investigator emailed one of the journalists with the actual British Airways seat number and ticketing details for a young girl simply visiting her boyfriend, in return for payment.

“It feels here like one rule for the newspapers and another for the claimants.

“While the claimants presented evidence, Mail journalists simply gave denials and the court chose uncritically to believe them, even in the face of inconsistencies, contradictions and blatant untruths that were obvious to neutral observers in court when compared to the documents.

“We presented to the court evidence which we believed was compelling at the time and remains so now. We would like to thank our legal team for all their hard work and all the witnesses who were brave enough to come forward in the pursuit of justice.”
