Brits will need to brace for a major change in the weather that is set to hit in just over a week, according to the latest UK weather maps. Heavy downpours and a temperature drop to 9C is expected by the end of next week. It marks a stark change to the pleasant weather as of late, which is set to disappear as of Sunday (July 19).

While members of the ppublic will continue to boil in the heat over the next few days, the rainy conditions are not far off, according to the latest maps. The weather body WX Charts has issued a series of forecasts indicating that July 19 will mark a major change in weather conditions across the country.

No part of the UK will be spared from the torrential rain, according to weather experts, who expect the change to occur overnight on July 19. Saturday, July 18, may be the last day to lap up warmer weather, with a blowout of rainy conditions expected in just 10 days.

Areas across the country are expected to plunge into colder climates towards the end of the month. Maps show minimum temperatures dropping to 9C across at least 14 Scottish unitary councils, including:

  • Aberdeenshire
  • Abderdeen
  • Angus
  • Argyll and Bute
  • Perth and Kinross
  • Sterling
  • southern areas in the Highlands
  • Mid Lothian
  • East Lothian
  • East Ayrshire
  • South Lanarkshire
  • Dumfries and Galloway
  • The Scottish Borders

Temperatures across England and Wales look to be warmer around this time, ranging from around 10C in the northern most areas of England, up to the mid teens along the south coast.

A long-term forecast from the Met Office has also warned of thunderstorms and possibly unsettled weather.

They wrote: “High pressure is likely to be situated to the north of the UK with low pressure over the Bay of Biscay. This will lead to an easterly flow being dominant to start the period and broadly settled weather for much of the UK.

“There will, however, be a risk of thunderstorms spreading into the south of the UK from France at times. Temperatures will be warm or very warm for most, perhaps hot at times in the southwest, but probably not as hot as of late. Later in this period the chance of low pressure increases, which may bring spells of wet and windy weather at times.”

A further forecast from the Met Office for July 23 to August 6 confirmed a “mixed” period for the weather. Both stormy conditions and warmer weather can be expected.

The forecast reads: “The signal through the end of July and into August becomes increasingly mixed with spells of low pressure and more unsettled weather becoming more likely.

“There may still be some thunderstorms at times as well. There will still probably be some dry interludes, most probably in the south and southeast. Temperatures are likely to remain warm or very warm and some spells of hot weather remain possible.”
