The US President has responded to Argentina’s threats to the Falkland Islands.

Donald Trump has hit out at the UK in a furious rant as he is asked about Argentina’s claim to the Falkland Islands.
He raged at what he perceives as the UK’s lack of support for the US during the war in Iran, and declared that Britain is “not doing very well” as a country.
On the Falklands, Mr Trump also cast doubt over whether the UK would be able to reclaim the islands like they did in 1982 under Margaret Thatcher.
Appearing on GB News, the US President was asked:”We’re worried at the moment in the UK about the Falklands, and your friend Javier Milei said that he’s going to make a statement about the Falkland Islands.
“The US has always been neutral on this issue, but would you come to the aid of the UK?”
The President replied: “Well look, I was there when they had the first war.
“That was a long time ago and I watched it so carefully, and you comported yourselves very well. You took it back pretty strongly, but it’s a long way away. That’s a big trip, it’s a long way.”
He added: “But the Falklands is very interesting because your country is not the same country it was 20 years ago, 25 years ago. It was a long time ago.
“And you went there and you just took it back very quickly and there was no games. So I don’t know if you’re prepared to do that. I just don’t know if you have the capacity to do that.”
On the Iran war, Mr Trump raged at the UK’s role in the Iran war and refusal to send ships to the Strait of Hormuz amid an Iranian blockade.

He said: “Your country’s not doing well. Don’t forget, you get a big percentage of your oil from the Strait of Hormuz, and you weren’t there to help me.
“Your country was not there to help me. We didn’t need help, but I did ask Nato, and I asked your former leader, ‘why didn’t you send a couple of ships?’
“He said we don’t have any, and it was pretty sad, the whole thing. So Nato was not there, even though they get – most of those countries get – a big portion of their oil from there. So we’re doing that by ourselves.”
Argentine President Javier Milei has ramped up rhetoric regarding the Falklands. His country still claims the islands as its territory.
He warned that his country would defend its claim “with tooth and nail.”
Mr Milei is set to make an address on Thursday, reiterating Argentina’s claim over the archipelago.
