A map shows 34 locations Russia could strike in a war with the UK after the Kremlin threatened to attack British military sites.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced recently that the UK government would share the blueprints for British-made components for the Scalp missile to help Ukraine build its own.
This sparked anger from Moscow. Russia’s foreign ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, then warned that UK military sites and drone factories supplying or supporting Ukraine could be targeted.
Russian President Vladimir Putin himself was asked whether he was considering striking British territory. His response was: “That’s a secret, a military secret”.
The UK has over 2,000 military bases on British territory – including Aldershot Garrison in Hampshire, Colchester Garrison in Essex, Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire and Beacon Barracks in Staffordshire.
Among these are 34 Royal Air Force (RAF) bases, including major sites in Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and RAF Coningsby in Lincoln.
The map below shows where these bases are located.
There are also fears Russia could target overseas British military bases in Estonia, Poland, Romania, Germany, Gibraltar and Cyprus.

The UK has committed more than £16billion in military aid to Ukraine since the war started in 2022.
BAE Systems subsidiary, Callen-Lenz, has developed the ‘Nyran Drone’ for Ukraine, which can reportedly fly more than 150 miles.
The company told The Times: “We deliver a range of capabilities into the UK MoD as part of the UK’s support to the defence of Ukraine.”
“The Nyan uncrewed air system provides a rapidly developed platform proven in meeting emerging threats within highly contested environments.”
