A street in Birmingham has been sealed off near a school following an overnight emergency response by police and paramedics.

Ambulances and police vehicles were spotted on St Saviour’s Road in the Alum Rock district of Birmingham, a neighbourhood two miles east of the city centre.

They appeared in the vicinity during the night in social media footage which emerged at approximately 1am.

The social media footage reportedly shows a substantial emergency service deployment to the incident.

Several police cars and an ambulance are evident in the footage.

Local residents can be observed looking on as a considerable emergency service operation unfolds.

Locals also reported seeing drones flying above at around 1:15am. It remains unclear whether the drones were operating in relation to the reported incident, or who was controlling the drones.

A police cordon remained in position on St Saviour’s Road by 3am, when the emergency presence had been markedly reduced as just two officers were at the location.

The cordon is close to a school, but it is not believed that the incident concerned the school.

The precise nature of the incident has yet to be confirmed.
