Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, was recorded as receiving £270,000 from gold dealer Direct Bullion for 12 hours of promotional work, alongside earlier payments and a separate fee from GB News, while he faces a parliamentary sleaze investigation over an undisclosed £5 million gift.

Nigel Farage was paid £270,000 to promote a gold dealer, it has been revealed.

The latest register of MPs’ financial interests show the Reform UK leader received the huge sum from London-based Direct Bullion on May 29.

It shows that he did 12 hours of work over three months for the company, which means his payment works out at £22,500 per hour.

The payment is double the £135,000 he received from the same company in October last year.

He was also paid £91,200 from them in January 2025.

The revelation came just a day before the Commons debates whether MPs should be banned from having second jobs.

There is no suggestion that Farage has done anything wrong.

A spokesman for the Reform boss said: “As has previously been reported and declared, Nigel Farage is a Brand Ambassador for Direct Bullion.”

The latest register of interests also show the Clacton MP received £18,402 on June 16 from GB News for six hours work.

The Reform leader is currently being investigated by parliament’s sleaze watchdog for not declaring £5 million he received shortly before becoming an MP from a Thailand-based crypto billionaire.

Farage has insisted he has done nothing wrong, and that it was an unconditional gift to recognise his work campaigning for Brexit.

He has previously said the money will be used to pay for his personal security, although last week he told presenters it was “not any of your business” what he does with the cash during spiky interviews on BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 4′s Today programme.

Labour chair Anna Turley said: “Nigel Farage clearly has the Midas touch when it comes to lining his pockets instead of doing his day job.

|When he’s not busy hiding a £5 million ‘gift’ from his Thai-based crypto billionaire mate, the Reform leader is being paid over £20,000 an hour to help boost sales of gold.

“This shows exactly who Farage is. He pretends to be on the side of ordinary working people but in truth he’s just in it for himself and will sell his time to the highest bidder.

“He should be focussed on putting more pounds back in his Clacton constituents’ pockets rather than racking up payments off the back of gold sales.

“The more the public is exposed to who he really is, the more Farage will show he’s actually trading on nothing more than fool’s gold.”

Lib Dem deputy leader Daisy Cooper said: “Farage isn’t fighting for anyone in Britain – he’s fighting for the highest bidder. While people in the UK are struggling, Farage is grifting.”
