The most popular boys and girls names in England and Wales in 2025 have been revealed – and the one topping the lists will likely not surprise you. Taking the top spots once again are Olivia for girls and Muhammed for boys, both of which have remained unchanged.

Olivia took the title for the fourth year in a row, and Muhammed for the third. Lily, Amelia, Isla and Florence make up the other girls’ names in the top five, and for boys it’s Noah, Leo, Luca, and Arthur. Lily moved up from third to second, Amelia moved from second to third, and Ivy declined from fifth to ninth.

While these names are typically high on the list every year, there have been some surprises as others climb in popularity.

Ada jumped 54 places since 2024, marking the biggest leap for girls’ names as it hit the number 45 spot.

For boys, Roman saw the largest increase in popularity, moving from 60th to 27th on the list.

Vinnie also moved up 33 places to 58th, and Charlie moved down from 17th to 22nd, moving out of the top 20.

New entries into the top 100 include Eliana, Gracie, Alba, Lilah, Carter, Ruben, Stanley, and Vincent.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) released the list, compiled from birth registration data from the last full calendar year.

It said names like Ellie, Amelie, Jessica, Grayson, Brody, and Bodhi have now fallen out of the list.
