A Sussex insider has spoken out after reports that Prince Harry and King Charles haven’t spoken since he returned to the UK.

Prince Harry spoke to his father King Charles in the first week he arrived back in the UK, the Daily Express understands. It comes after reports suggested that father and son have not spoken since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK at the end of last month with their two children.
But sources close to Harry have confirmed that the pair did speak the week the Sussexes arrived back in the UK, though they haven’t reunited in person. The Duke and Duchess moved back to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on August 26 ahead of the new school term.

They have kept a very low profile and only Harry has been pictured in public, when he attended Tower Bridge Studios as part of a “mystery” project on Friday. But tensions between the Sussexes and the Palace escalated this week following the King’s decision to clarify that Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals and do not represent the Royal Family.
Harry and Meghan responded to the news, saying they were surprised by its release. The strongly-worded letter confirmed that the couple are to be treated as “private citizens”, are not allowed to use their HRH titles and do not work on behalf of the Royal Family
A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess said: “We were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.”
But royal sources insist that the letter was sent to the couple ahead of its publication.
The Lord Chamberlain, the King’s most senior aide, issued the document to a small number of “key stakeholders” in Government, the military, Lords Lieutenant and the Sussexes’ team to clarify Harry and Meghan’s position following their bombshell decision to return to Britain.
Charles felt it was prudent to issue the letter “to help avoid doubt or confusion” after a number of requests of guidance were made by senior officials.
With reports claiming that Harry and Meghan intended to increase the number of public engagements they undertake in the UK – and willingness for the media to cover the events in a similar fashion to the Palace’s longstanding rota system – the King felt compelled to act.
