People whooped when Harry and Meghan got out of their blacked-out four by four in Nottingham yesterday. Strange. They are just everyday private citizens going about their business, surely. Sadly not. This was always going to happen. The Sussexes are pretending to be important royals, completely overshadowing the King, who had his own engagement opening the Senedd.
Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be turning in her grave. Yesterday should be seen as a power move from Harry and Meghan – an attempt to corner the monarch after the publishing of a letter outlining his view that the renegade couple are still not working members of the firm, despite them having moved back to Britain.
“It’s great to be back,” Meghan told people gathered to see her. Yeah, right. Whatever you say. You clearly hated the UK only several years ago. You’re only sorry that your little escapade to America did not go as planned.
Now you’ve returned, seeking to wreak havoc. Well, I can tell you the British public won’t wear it. They can easily see through your power plays – such as the one seen on Thursday. It was all smiles on the outside, but the motivation behind it was more sinister. The brazen lack of respect for Harry’s grandmother is astounding and should disturb every sensible Brit.
She explicitly forbade him and Meghan from acting like plastic royals when they left their roles in the core team in January 2020. But rest assured, loyal subjects, they will get their comeuppance.

There will come a time when Prince William becomes king, and he will make sure the Sussexes are put back in their box. He is the future of the monarchy – not his moaning younger sibling.
He might already be working behind the scenes to combat Harry and Meghan’s apparent “half-in, half-out” strategy. Let’s hope so. Their titles, at least, should have been removed long ago.
This whole thing is more than anything a sad affair, it has to be said. Yesterday once again proved that Harry and Meghan would have been an invaluable asset to the Royal Family. There is no denying that they are good at these kinds of public appearances.
They could have been another string to the Crown’s bow. Instead, they have turned out to be thorns in its side.
