GB News was halted for a breaking alert as the number of small boat migrants arriving in the UK has skyrocketed towards a milestone four figures. Will Godley appeared on the show via video link, explaining that he had been in Dover over the Bank Holiday weekend and witnessed “arrival after arrival” of boats containing 60-80 migrants.

He said: “I was in Dover over this Bank Holiday weekend and that’s exactly what we were seeing. Arrival after arrival of Border Force vessel into the port of Dover, each time on board perhaps 60, perhaps 80 small boat migrants who had made the crossing in a dinghy from France, or perhaps Belgium, we were seeing crossing the Channel.”

He explained they were “escorted by a French naval boat to that halfway mark, that invisible line they have to get to where they’re intercepted by the British Border Force and brought to the port of Dover for processing, and that’s what’s taken place in the early hours of this morning.

“The first boat set off towards Britain from the Calais area of France. This boat was intercepted by a French naval vessel in between, perhaps, 2 or 3 o’clock this morning, so a very early departure for those on board, making its way to that halfway mark in the Channel, where it’s been intercepted by the Border Security Command vessel Courageous.

“It will be docking in the next 10 or so minutes, and really, we don’t know how many small boat migrants there are on board, but these boats can carry up to 100 people, but more regularly this weekend it’s been between 60 and 85.”

Godley explained: “We could be reaching at least 1000 small boat migrant arrivals perhaps as soon as this morning.”

As he spoke, a breaking news banner on the screen read: “Breaking – nearly 1,000 migrants cross the Channel.”

Viewers were left fuming, with one tweeting in response: “They might as well have the Border Force boats ferry them across and cut out the gangs for all the difference it would make!”

Another said: “What’s the point of having Border Force when they do sod all except welcoming all the illegal migrants into the country? Starmer has made it clear there’s no ‘smash the gangs’, but ‘welcome the bloody gangs!’”
