The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has issued a statement.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a reported plane crash, with a large cordon surrounding a field. First responders have been scrambled to the incident in the village of High Ongar in Essex.

The incident reportedly occured at 1.30pm on June 30, Tuesday as police, ambulance and fire service rushed to the scene. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has confirmed a crew of responders have been deployed to the accident site. A statement from the organisation said: “An accident in Ongar, Essex involving a light aircraft which occurred today (30 June) has been notified to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch. An investigation has been launched and a team of inspectors are on their way to the accident site.”

High Ongar is a small village located about one mile to the north-east of Chipping Ongar and roughly eight miles to the west of Chelmsford. It lies close to the A414, a main road that provides a direct link between Chelmsford and Harlow.

The Express has reached out to East of England Ambulance Service and Essex Police for a comment.
