GB News ground to a halt minutes into their afternoon show as they issued a major Keir Starmer update during the King’s speech. On Wednesday (May 13), King Charles III delivered his third speech as monarch, marking the 2026 state opening of parliament. It marked the beginning of a new parliamentary session, and is both historically symbolic and an important moment where the government’s legislative plans for the next 12 months are laid bare.
It coems as the Labour leader faces the biggest challenge to his premiership to date, with nearly 100 of his own MPs calling for him to step down in the wake of disastrous local election results. As the historical moment played out on screen, broadcasters Andrew Pierce and Miriam Cates welcomed body language expert Judi James onto the show to analyse the Prime Ministers interactions with other MPs during the speech.
The expert chuckled: “How ironic! It was only when he was drowning in drama that I suddenly spotted a mroe humanoid body language from the man. He was chuckling and chortling, and he actually invited Kemi [Badenoch] to walk with him with an eyebrow flash, which is a real blokeish, casual gesture.
“But Kemi did the old political leadership one-two on him here, this is what Gordon Brown used to do. When you get two leaders walking together, if one is doing all the talking, they’ll always look like the more powerful leader, so he fell into that particular trap.
“I think he was feeling a bit more awkward today, he looked as though he was trying to hide his embarrassment. When he first came out of his house he looked like he was off on his first day of school and here he looks like he was clutching to her for some confidence.”
It didn’t take long for viewers to flock to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their thoughts on the politician’s future in No. 10. One user penned: “He’s like a duck in water, trying to look calm, but underneath paddling like mad to keep afloat. He’s like a lost boy in a crowded place, just waiting to feel the reassurance of an adult, unfortunately there is none in attendance…”

Another agreed: “Tht’s because he’s panicked because he’s not managed to cover up all his dirty tracks yet and knows some things will no doubt prove to be criminal.” A third chimed in with: “Because he has to, you seem to think he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s a lawyer, they are expert manipulators.”
A fourth echoed: “Love the way Judi can see right through each personality and tell it as it is, watched her yesterday as well and enjoyed her break down on everything.” A fifth added: “Great to see you back on TV again Judi James. It’s always fascinating hearing your body language expertise!”
