The UK could be set for a spell of bitterly cold weather and some snow, with the latest maps suggesting temperatures may plunge as low as -7C in some areas. Weather maps produced by WXCharts show large swathes of the country covered in white and purple shading on November 11, signalling the potential for wintry conditions and possible snowfall. The maps show the wintry conditions are expected to begin affecting parts of the UK from around 6am that day. The coldest temperatures are forecast in the Inverness area, where the mercury could plummet to as low as -7C.
Forecast maps also suggest that by November 12, snow may extend into parts of England, bringing more widespread wintry weather across the country. The weather charts show areas around London, Birmingham, Oxford, Plymouth, Cornwall and Devon will be peppered with snow on November 12.
The bitterly cold weather would come just weeks after the UK was battered by Storm Austen and Storm Boelo, which brought strong winds and heavy rain to several parts of the country. The severe weather caused widespread disruption, with gusty conditions and persistent downpours affecting communities across the UK.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast between November 4 and 13 reads: “High pressure is set to dominate across the UK early in this period, bringing a lot of dry weather.
“Some places may start foggy, this slow to clear, possibly even lingering all day. Elsewhere, cloud amounts will be variable, but there should be some sunshine. Cloud may be thick enough at times for a little light drizzle though.
“For most, temperatures are likely to be close to normal for the time of year, though it will be chilly where any fog lingers. Some overnight frost is likely where skies are clear and winds remain light.
“As we head into the following week, there are signs that more unsettled weather may return, but confidence surrounding this change is low.”
