The Met Office has issued a new weather forecast.
UK weather map forecasts wintery conditions as Autumn continues
The Met Office has forecast snow to hit parts of the UK on Saturday as temperatures look set to plunge. It comes as the weather agency warns that this weekend may “bring a brief of winter” across certain areas. Forecasts suggest that Saturday will be the most unsettled day of the weekend, bringing showers to many regions across the UK. Strong winds will also be present, giving the day a cooler feel. However, as well as the wet weather, the Met Offie says that some Brits are at risk of snow over the weekend.
It states: “Showers will move through widely during the day, with northern parts of the UK likely to see the most frequent and intense downpours. Scotland will be particularly prone to heavy showers, with a risk of hail and thunder.
“There could even be a temporary sprinkling of snow over the highest ground, adding a wintry flavour to the autumn weather.”
Not all of the nation will experience the full bite of the cold. The far south and southeast will be sheltered from the showers, and could see some longer and brighter spells. The north, on the other hand, will experience brisk winds, which will result in the colder feel. Some places will experience lower than average temperatures, with the strength of the wind making it noticeably chiller, according to the weather agency.
Showers will continue throughout Saturday evening, but will gradually become fewer. There is also a possibility that they will remain overnight, mainly around coastal areas and parts of northern and central England.
Weather conditions on Sunday will be fairly different than the Saturday, with the morning starting much brighter for many. A brisk wind from overnight will also ease its way through to the early hours of Sunday, giving it a bit of a chill in the morning, though the winds are expected to “gradually ease”.

The Met Office said: “There will also be far fewer showers than on Saturday, allowing many areas to enjoy a dry day with some sunny spells. With lighter winds and more sunshine, conditions should feel noticeably more pleasant, despite temperatures remaining broadly similar to the previous day.
“Cloud amounts are likely to increase during Sunday afternoon, and an isolated spot of rain cannot be ruled out. Even so, most places should remain dry, making Sunday the best opportunity for outdoor plans.”
