GB News guest Matthew Laza stormed off stage after clashing with host Nana Akua on Thursday’s programme. As the pair discussed the UK’s “economic turmoil” and borrowing costs, the conversation turned incredibly tense. “We all respected the democratic vote, and it’s proved a disaster,” Matthew, a former Labour adviser, said of Brexit’s impact. “The reason I wanted to leave was because of sovereignty,” Nana replied, “not how much money was on the side of a bus, which I didn’t really believe or care about,” she continued, referring to Reform’s campaign bus, complete with a billboard declaring that the UK paid £350 million weekly to Brussels.

“Ok, but they put it on the side… Nana, let me finish, please!” Matthew said, raising his voice. “No!” she fired back.

“I’m going to, Nana. Ok, I’m going to keep talking, so either we can have a polite conversation,” he fumed.

Frustrated with his constant interruptions, the GB host sidestepped him altogether. “You’ve done your bit,” she told him, before handing over to one of her other panel guests, Lord Bailey.

“I’m not being spoken to like that,” Matthew declared. “Ok, fine, what are you going to do about it?” Nana quipped. “Leave!” he exclaimed.

“Well, do what you want, but it’s somebody else’s go,” Nana quipped. “You’ve had plenty of time”. As Lord Bailey proceeded to share his view on the topic, Matthew suddenly walked off the set, slamming a door behind him.

Following the fiery segment, viewers responded on X. “I thought Nana handled that really well. Nana is chairing the debate; she moved the conversation on. That should have been the end of it. I like Matthew, but that was out of order,” tweeted one.

“Laza used to be mild-mannered – what has happened to make him so rude and aggressive?” replied a second. Meanwhile, a third remarked, “Hilarious, he flounced off, and the others just carried on as if they hadn’t noticed. Unfortunately, he came back 45 mins later,” and a fourth wrote: “What an absolute child. Love the feet stomping and door slamming. Infantile.”
