Nigel Farage

As the May elections near, Nigel Farage’s Reform has stormed back into the lead. The real tell: the latest blockbuster poll comes from YouGov, which Farage had accused of uniquely suppressing Reform’s support. This is YouGov’s third April poll. While the first two polls gave Reform a 5-point lead, the latest puts the insurgent party a huge 10 points ahead. While Reform jumps from 24% to 27% in YouGov polls, Labour is stuck at 16-17% while the Tories fall from 19% to 17%.

That’s got to sting at Conservative HQ where the so-called “natural party of government” consoles itself that Kemi Badenoch is mounting a comeback, with voters apparently having collective amnesia about 14 years of Tory failure. For Reform, the news couldn’t be better timed as the party looks set to paint East Anglia turquoise, and with it, much of the rest of the country. While London and Scotland could suppress the overall Reform vote, we can expect Reform to storm the rest of England and Wales.

That said, another YouGov poll – again for Sky News – and focused purely on London, sees Reform winning big in outer eastern London, picking up enough votes to take over three London borough councils: Barking and Dagenham, Bromley and Havering.

Combined with gains for the Greens, Labour and the Tories are set for wipeout in the capital. With Reform eyeing second place at least in Wales – and maybe Scotland too – it’s all to play for.

So much for Peak Farage!
