Migrants in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta have been filmed parading a baby dolphin around a beach before “beating it to death”.
Footage showed a group of men picking up the marine mammal after it washed ashore and holding it above their heads.
Chaos ensued as officials wearing high-vis jackets attempted to intervene and rescue the creature.
One migrant allegedly hit the dolphin on the head with a stick, inflicting fatal injuries, Telecinco reports.
Locals to Trampolin Beach, on the North African coast, were filmed pleading with the migrants to surrender the animal, before eventually wrestling it away and putting it back in the water.
By this point it was sadly too late and the creature had died. The shocking scenes prompted an online petition demanding that the men responsible be arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
