Iceland and Tesco have both issued urgent warnings to shoppers this week after certain products were found to pose serious health risks. Food items sold in the supermarkets may be contaminated with E. coli, which can trigger food poisoning.
A product recall has also been issued for a popular face wash after it was found to potentially harbour bacteria harmful to the skin, with shoppers told to stop using it “immediately”. Tesco recalled its Finest Mozzarella Pearls and Pesto Orzo Salad this week.

The 215g packet carries best-before dates of August 25, 26, and 27, 2026, which have now passed, though shoppers may still have the items at home.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a recall alert urging customers to avoid consuming the product. It stated: “The possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli STEC in the product listed above.
“Symptoms caused by STEC organisms include severe diarrhoea with or without blood in the stool, abdominal pain, vomiting, dehydration and sometimes haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure and can be fatal.
“If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should stay away from work, school or nursery until you have stopped having symptoms for at least 48 hours to avoid passing it on to others.”
Tesco added: “We’re recalling three date codes of Tesco Finest Mozzarella Pearls and Pesto Orzo Salad 215g. This is due to the possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), which can cause illness if eaten. No other products sold at Tesco are affected by this recall.”

Summit Foods has withdrawn the Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, Snacksters Hoi Sin Wrap, East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap and Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap owing to the potential existence of Shiga toxin-producing E.coli (STEC).
The recall covers all use-by dates up to and including September 5, 2026. The FSA has advised consumers who have purchased any of the affected wraps not to consume them and to throw them away immediately.
Provide proof of purchase to sales@summitfoods.co.uk, stating when and where it was purchased, to request a refund. The Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap has been stocked at Iceland, which has issued its own separate recall notice.
Iceland said: “If you have purchased, please dispose of immediately and DO NOT CONSUME then provide proof of purchase on sales@summitfoods.co.uk, stating when and where purchased. Safety and quality is our first priority and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
Leading skincare brand Simple has recalled one of its best-selling products over concerns it may pose a “microbiological risk”. The affected batches could potentially trigger eye inflammation in users.

Consequently, customers in possession of the products have been urged to cease using them “immediately”, with stocks withdrawn from shelves nationwide. The Simple Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water in 200ml, 400ml and 730ml bottles are all affected.
A recall notice was issued earlier this month covering just one size of the cleanser, with additional sizes now added to the list. The recall covers both the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Simple stated: “We are recalling these products because the safety of the people who buy and use our products is our top priority. Other Simple products are not affected by this issue. We understand that product recalls can be concerning, and we are sorry for any concern or inconvenience this may have caused.”
