Wednesday’s episode of the Jeremy Vine Show turned tense as Narinder Kaur fumed at a viewer phoning in from County Durham. Appearing on the programme to discuss the ongoing crisis surrounding small boat crossings in the UK, Narinder – who frequently stars on Good Morning Britain – became embroiled in a heated debate.
As host Jeremy asked viewers whether migrants should be housed in wealthier areas of the UK, a caller named Charlotte weighed in. “It’s a red herring, this discussion, because they shouldn’t be housed anywhere,” she shared. “It doesn’t matter if it is upper class, middle class, working class, whatever. They should not be here in any area, in any type of accommodation, so just deport the ones that are already here, and do not let any more in.”
Responding to Charlotte’s comments, Narinder pointed out that migrants are being deported. “Labour have managed to, [they’re] nearly 50% down,” she declared. “50% needs to be 100%,” Charlotte hit back.
“But we have obligations, we have legal…” Narinder returned, while Charlotte attempted to interrupt her. Visibly frustrated, the GMB star asked, “Why don’t you want any? Why do you not want to help? We’re a Christian country, why don’t you want to help any asylum seeker?”

“I’m not a Christian, I’m an atheist!” the caller fumed, arguing that she didn’t want to help migrants because “they are not asylum seekers, they are asylum swindlers! They are chancing their arms, they think that we are a soft touch and think […] we can hoodwink the authorities…”
“But they’re not!” Narinder interjected, adding, “You sound like you’ve been radicalised by these lies.” A remark that clearly struck a nerve with the caller, Jeremy attempted to diffuse the tension as Charlotte scoffed, “I am sensible. Common sense.”
“That doesn’t sound like common sense. Where’s your evidence that they’re coming here as swindlers?” Narinder exclaimed.
