Jayne Secker shared further details on the breaking update.
Sky News was halted for a breaking news update on the thousands of illegal migrants who breached the border of Spanish enclave Ceuta last week. Presenter Jayne Secker announced that more than 100 people have been killed in the crisis, which saw around 60,000 migrants from Morocco cross into the Spanish city in North Africa.
“Let’s just bring you some breaking news regarding the situation in Ceuta. That is the Spanish enclave just off the coast of Morocco on the north coast of Africa,” Secker said. She continued: “You will recall thousands of migrants stormed the border last week, many coming across by sea. Spain’s local government head there said between three and five thousand migrants who came that day are still in Ceuta, it is believed.

“They’ve also confirmed that that massive border rush left more than 100 people dead. We know that some people struggled in the water, others were crushed at the border itself.”
It comes after it was revealed that Spanish authorities had denied the migrants food and water in effort to get them to leave.
Mark White and Dawn Neesom discussed the update on GB News, and took the opportunity to make several digs at the Labour government.
“Can you imagine if we did that in this country rather than give them a hotel?” Neesom said, referring to the large amount of immigrants who are housed by the government after crossing the English Channel illegally.
Taking aim at the Labour government’s handling of the illegal migration crisis in the UK, White highlighted that the migrants were being “pushed back over the border without any regard to them claiming asylum”.
He declared: “There would be an absolute and utter uproar in this country if this government was to behave like that, but it just shows you, even in the European Union, if you’re determined enough, you can absolutely do this, as the Spanish are now being forced to do.”
Neesom claimed there would be “lefty lawyers” attempting to handle the situation if it happened in the UK, adding that they would likely argue the migrants needed a hotel and money.
She quipped: “The EU has offered emergency aid but also, the Spanish are doing what they need to do. But we couldn’t do that, could we?”
