Police Struggle to Form a “Human Barricade” The atmosphere quickly escalated to a critical level as individuals from both sides showed intentions of breaching the divide to confront one another. Shouts, chants, and insults completely drowned out the street.
Police Scotland officers arrived immediately, swiftly deploying metal barricades to establish a buffer zone. Dozens of officers in high-visibility vests had to form multiple layers of a “human barricade,” using sheer physical force to hold back agitated individuals trying to push through the lines. Direct footage showed police constantly shouting and pushing back protesters from both factions to maintain order and avert a bloody street riot.
