OPINION: Carole Malone – They seem to be revelling in the deaths of their political opponents

After days of gaslighting the British public and insisting Ann Widdecombe’s brutal killing wasn’t politically motivated, we now discover it was a “targeted attack”.
So why were Devon and Cornwall Police busting a gut to tell us it wasn’t? Why repeatedly talk down the possibility that it was politically and terror related when there was mounting evidence that it was?
Why keep saying it wasn’t politically motivated when at the start they actually didn’t know. What the Hell did that achieve other than to distress and confuse Ann’s devastated family and everyone who knew and cared about her.
Head of Counter Terrorism Policing, Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said, “it is clear this was a targeted attack” although at this stage it “has not been declared a terrorist incident”.
Jonathan Hall KC, the UK’s independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, earlier said he was very “surprised” by the police’s initial public statements on Ann’s killing.
“Why rule something out and then have to reverse their position when new facts emerge,” he said.

And new facts did emerge very quickly with one national newspaper reporting the discovery of Russian communist literature and other items of political ideology at the home of the man who has been arrested on suspicion of Ann’s murder.
This is ineptitude and obfuscation on a grand scale. In fact, in the hours after her murder Devon and Cornwall Police wouldn’t even admit to her death being suspicious even though she’d been bludgeoned to death in her own kitchen.
They even dropped hints that it had been a burglary gone wrong.
Why do that? Because it’s speculation without facts or evidence – something the police repeatedly tell the public not to do in the aftermath of a murder because they say it can hinder their investigation and cause unrest?
But the people who’ve done the lion’s share of speculating here are Devon and Cornwall police by consistently claiming there was no political motivation to the death.
And if there HAS been speculation online it’s precisely because of the deliberate vacuum these cops created by feeding untruths to the British public. As Jonathan Hall, who two years ago investigated the police handling of the Southport murders, said it’s THAT which causes speculation and had led to information voids which had then filled with “speculation and mischief.”
Did D and C’s chief constable, James Vaughan, miss that investigation?
He must have because this week he had the brass neck to say his force had mounted “an extraordinary response to the horrific murder of a very prominent figure.”
It was extraordinary alright. But not in the way he means. Hell, it was Ann’s own doorbell camera that provided evidence of her suspected murderer and his car which gave them his address in Rotherham.
What the Hell is it with police? After those appalling communication blunders in Southport, you’d think they’d have learned lessons about transparency. Clearly not.
Devon and Cornwall cops just continued to wag fingers at us warning us not to speculate.
If they hadn’t known much at the start they should have said so. Although God knows how they didn’t know anything as Ann’s alleged killer was on her doorbell camera.
But their instinct was to obfuscate – and now that obfuscation has exposed them as being foolish, inept and wilfully deceitful. And they deserve that.
But Ann’s family don’t.
Hell, last week they even said their counter-terrorism partners had reviewed the case and ruled out a terrorist motive. It was after that Terror Police came in and wrested the case from them – Thank God.
But insisting there had been no political motive led to appalling abuse and criticism of Ann’s friend and Reform boss, Nigel Farage who’d rightly said at the start he believed her death was premeditated.
And for saying that the wrath of the Left came down on his head accusing him of politically cashing in on Ann’s death.
Alistair Campbell alluded to “people” (Reform) using her death as “performative spectacle” and “pushing conspiracy theories.”
How stupid must he feel now? In light of the fact Shabana Mahmood has invited Farage to come in and talk about security.
Farage was also accused of self-publicity by radio shock jock James O’ Brien because he’d lain a wreath in honour of her.
Who are these vile people who hate and are so obsessed with destroying Farage that they think it’s OK to dehumanise and abuse him? Even to make a mockery of his feelings for Ann? They even mock him about his fears over his security. O’Brien called him a “whingeing coward” for saying he was Britain’s most attacked MP. Yes, well Farage’s fears for himself and Reform MPs is looking like it’s justified.
And I’m sorry but Devon and Cornwall’s deceit and dishonesty helped facilitate the abuse Reform MPs have had this week.

The truth is Ann and Farage were friends and when he was told of her death he took it very badly.
But No, the slavering, spitting haters on the Left weren’t having that.
In fact, they seem to revel in the deaths of political opponents because they believe people whose views differ fundamentally from theirs should be dead and won’t be missed.
And that’s how they’ve been over Ann Widdecombe.
On the actual day of her death the execrable Peter Tatchell summed up her lifetime of service in one word: “bigot.”
Ditto with Sky TV’s revolting Adam Boulton who called her an “old maid”, a “spinster”, a “virgin”. Is that really all this bloated misogynist had to say about the brutal killing of a 78-year-old lady who has achieved more in her political life than he ever will.
Then there’s Heather Herbert, a trans woman (a man) and an employee at Edinburgh University who said he hoped Ann had been handcuffed to her bed and died screaming in agony.
What kind of monsters are these people?
The same kind that sold t-shirts proclaiming “Ding Dong the Witch is dead” when Maggie Thatcher died.
These Leftie ingrates make a mockery of their ludicrous #Be Kind mantra.
They are devoid of kindness. In fact, they’re aberrations of humanity thanks to their grotesque ability to be gleeful about the brutal killing of an elderly lady.
These are the same frauds who scream that they care about minorities, about immigrants, about social justice and various other causes yet when a 78-year-old lady whose views they don’t like is bludgeoned to death, they celebrate it. They’re happy!!!
