Drivers on a busy stretch of the M25 are facing rush hour traffic chaos following a serious multi-vehicle crash. There are currently 45 minute delays on the M25 clockwise between junctions 11 and 12 towards Staines.
Motorway camera footage shows miles of traffic at a complete standstill. The vehicles involved in the collision have been moved to the hard shoulder. National Highways South East wrote on X: “There are 45min delays on the #M25 clockwise between J11 and J12 towards #Staines following a multi–vehicle collision. All vehicles involved have been moved to the hard shoulder.

All lanes have opened
National Highways said in an update that all the lanes on M25 have now reopened.
There is a delay of 20 minutes, it said.

How important is the M25?
The M25 or London Orbital Motorway is a major ring road encircling most of Greater London.
The 117-mile-long motorway is one of the most important roads in the UK and one of the busiest.
Margaret Thatcher opened the final section in 1986, making the M25 the longest ring road in Europe upon opening.
