OPINION: Prince Harry may be hoping his children will help him reconcile with William – but it could all end in tears.

Prince Harry is returning to the UK next month, and if he brings his children with him, it could be the final time he tries to reconcile with his estranged brother, Prince William. For years, the two princes have been at war with one another – a war of avoidance and ignoring.

And who is surprised, really? I mean, Harry launched bombshell after bombshell at William publicly, through TV interviews, a Netflix docuseries and, for the final blow, in a tell-all memoir. I probably wouldn’t be keen to keep in touch with my sibling if I were William, either. While the Prince of Wales seems to have shown no ambition to forgive Harry over the last few years, Harry has always made it clear he still holds the door open if William does decide to come knocking.

And this door may shut soon if no reconciliation happens on this next UK visit, especially if Harry ends up bringing his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to Britain (of course, the latest security matters have put this up in the air for now).

This is because Harry will no doubt be hoping his children will bring him closer to his brother.

After all, Archie and Lilibet are William and Catherine’s nephew and niece, and they are the cousins of William’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

If William, 44, won’t meet his younger brother on this upcoming UK visit – if only to let the children get to know their cousins – then what will really lead to a reconciliation?

Both Harry and William know the importance of cousins, having always been close to their own, so if they miss the opportunity to allow their children to get to know each other by putting aside their own conflicts, then what hope is there?

Harry’s upcoming UK trip, if he does bring his children, is, in my opinion, going to be very telling.

It would be Archie and Lilibet’s first time in the UK since 2022, and could be their last for another few years.

If William misses this chance to catch up with the Sussex family, I doubt he will do it next time either.

And it may show that the future King has his mind very much set on his current stance – that a relationship with Harry is not something on his priority list.

That would be yet another devastating blow for Harry.
