Two years ago, my family and I sailed on a 24-night cruise aboard the Celebrity Constellation, journeying through the Western Mediterranean and across the Atlantic. Our waiter during that voyage was a kind and attentive man named Robert—the kind of person who doesn’t just serve meals, but makes you feel truly cared for.
Fast forward to now: we’re sailing again, this time on the beautiful Celebrity Beyond. On our very first night, someone approached our table with a warm smile—it was Robert.
Though we weren’t seated in his section this time, he had recognized our names on the reservation list and sought us out just to say hello. He didn’t have to—but he kept checking in on us throughout the evening, just like old friends. His kindness hadn’t changed a bit.
Touched by his gesture, I decided to write a quick note to Captain Kate, praising Robert and the exceptional hospitality of the crew. I didn’t expect a reply—just wanted to share our gratitude.
Then something incredible happened.
This morning, during a massive meeting with all 1,300 crew members and company leaders, Captain Kate called Robert up on stage. To everyone’s surprise (especially his), she read my entire note out loud.
Robert was celebrated—given gifts and awards—right there in front of the whole team.
And my heart could not be fuller.
He didn’t ask for recognition. He simply did what he always does—go above and beyond.
These are the quiet, unsung moments that make travel unforgettable. The people like Robert who show up with heart, every single day.
This ship, this journey—it’s my favorite cruise so far. And Robert? He reminded us all what true hospitality looks like. 💙⚓
