There’s talk in Westminster of a reshuffle that could see at least one of Keir Starmer’s Cabinet members sacked and another demoted.

Sir Keir Starmer is reportedly planning to reshuffle his Cabinet next month after Labour was given a drubbing at the polls. There’s talk that Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson could be demoted while Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy also faces the sack, according to the Daily Mail, citing “Labour insiders”.

After a set of disastrous election results, the Prime Minister may be looking to “reset” his Government in a bid to reverse its electoral misfortunes. Sir Keir has faced calls from his own backbench MPs to change tack after Reform UK picked up 10 councils and more than 600 seats at the local elections on May 1. Labour also lost the Runcorn and Helsby by-election by just six votes, with Nigel Farage‘s Reform UK overturning a 14,696 majority to take the seat.

While Ms Phillipson is tipped for demotion after reportedly “blindsiding” Downing Street with her reforms, there are a number of others who Brits might like to see removed from Sir Keir’s Cabinet. As the architect of cruel cuts to the Winter Fuel Allowance, some may want Chancellor Rachel Reeves to be given the boot.

Others might want to see the back of Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, whose plans to build 1.5 million homes threaten to concrete over parts of England’s Green Belt.

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband‘s dash for Net Zero has been partly blamed for the success of Reform UK so he too may be one senior Cabinet minister Brits want out. However, according to the Mail, Mr Miliband is “safe”.

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary David Lammy looks set to hand over the Chagos Islands in a multi-million pound deal which could jeopardise the future of a US-UK military base on Diego Garcia.

After recently describing the grooming gangs scandal as a “dog whistle” issue, Commons Leader Lucy Powell may be another Cabinet minister on her way out.

Downing Street has refused to be drawn on speculation about Sir Keir’s reported reshuffle, and a Government figure told the Mail moving Ms Phillipson was “total b*******”.

However, the Express would like to know who you think should be the first to be sacked by Sir Keir. Please let us know by taking part in our poll and join the debate in the comments section.

And if there’s a Cabinet minister not listed who you think ought to be shown the door, then please let us know in the comments.
