He Spent Two Years Growing His Hair to Help Kids He’ll Never Meet — and Faced Down Bullies Along the Way.
“More Than Hair: A Boy Named Christian”
Two years ago, my son saw a St. Jude commercial that quietly but powerfully changed the course of his life.
He didn’t just feel sorry for the kids on the screen — he acted. He did his own research. He made a decision. At just [insert age if you’d like], Christian set a goal: grow his hair long enough to donate it to children who had lost theirs.
Today, after two years of patience, determination, and heart — he finally did it.
Over 10 inches of hair, tied into four ponytails, is now on its way to the “Children With Hair Loss” foundation.
But this journey wasn’t easy.
Christian faced teasing. Ridicule. Bullying.
From classmates calling him a girl…
To adults — yes, adults — telling him to cut it off or even offering him money if he did.
But not once did he waver.
Every time, he calmly explained his “why.” He never hid his purpose, never let someone else’s opinion outweigh his mission. Instead, he used those moments to educate others — even when it would’ve been easier to stay quiet.
And now, someone out there — some little fighter — will have a wig, made possible by a boy with a big heart and even bigger courage.
I couldn’t be prouder.
Today isn’t just about hair.
It’s about empathy, strength, and a young man who kept his promise — not just to himself, but to someone he may never meet.
Christian, you’ve always made me proud. But today, you reminded me what real kindness looks like.
